Cool Ricky Blues - "Roll It" (Official Southern Soul Video)

Hello and Welcome to my Blog!

I am Kaye Fullylove and on my profile, it states that I am a Radio Personality/DJ and I, absolutely Fully[LOVE] music!
And, I, Fully[LOVE] and equally enjoy writing!
It has been over three years since my voice was heard in Dallas, Texas over the terrestrial airwaves at one of the oldest commercial radio stations of its kind in the country [Soul 73 KKDA-AM or AM 730 KKDA], as it was called by the end of 2012, when it sent almost all of the entire radio staff packing and ceasing to play mostly Blues and Soul music from its inception in 1969/1970.
I've missed my radio listening audience, and judging from your calls and comments on other social media websites, I know you miss me too.
However, I look forward to returning to the airwaves eventually, but right now; it's Blogging time!
This is my first Blog and it's long overdue and now is the right time to do it.

My radio journey as a Disc Jockey, started in the clubs of Dallas, Texas during the summer of 1976.
Prior to me walking into the Club Watergate on a Sunday evening, there weren't ANY Black female Disc Jockey's in the Clubs back then. I walked in the Club Watergate that Sunday evening and I told them that I was a Disc Jockey. That got their immediate attention, and the two Club Disc Jockeys named "Mr. Understanding" aka Johnny Haggerty and another one named "BT" was gracious enough to let me sit in with them and spin a song or two, they soon found out that I had spinning skills. You have to keep in mind that back then, the Black female Disc Jockey's in the Clubs had not arrived on the scene, yet. They were just barely making an impact on the radio, in a field where men were dominant, even to this day.
My ultimate goal was to be a Disc Jockey on the radio and I was about three months away from making my dream come true.
In the meantime, I continued listening to Sherry Jones on the radio.
Who was/is Sherry Jones?
Sherry Jones was/is the first Black female Disc Jockey to be heard on the radio airwaves in Dallas, Texas [via Grand Prairie, Texas] on the newly formed KKDA-FM aka K104-FM radio station, [the offspring radio station of Soul Sockin' 73 KKDA-AM].
I have nothing but love for Sherry Jones for opening the radio door for Black females including Pam Dent, H.F. Stone and myself. We were the first Black female Disc Jockeys and Trail Blazers of Dallas, Texas radio in 1976/1977 respectively.
In fact, one of my former Colleague/Mentor  Roland Edison dubbed us the "Wheels of Steel".

My love for music while growing up in Sherman, Texas and listening to Great Blues and Soul Artists alike continued to grow stronger and stronger. It was Artists like Sam Cooke, Johnnie Taylor, Little Johnny Taylor, Little Milton, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Z.Z. Hill, Joe Simon, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Fontella Bass, Little Esther Phillips, Tina Turner, Sly and the Family Stone, The Four Tops and James Brown, just to name a few, that made me yearn to play their music on the radio one day.
These are some of the Trail Blazers and Trend Setters of their musical genre's respectively, that I enjoyed listening to the most.
The bottom line is, I have a good mixture and love for Blues and Soul music, but my passion is and always will be the Blues.
This Blog is intended for the sole purpose of promoting Blues and Soul music, with some Southern Soul music incorporated occasionally.

I've spent many years playing and enjoying music by some of these same Entertainers/Singers who are now Legends in the business [dead and alive], and their standards were exemplary. Which brings us to the Artists of today.
Where are more of the exemplary Artists of today comparable to their musical predecessors? I'm not the only one asking that question. That question is simply just that; a question and some will have various answers and that's a good thing, the main thing is to create dialogue and find musical solutions for musical problems in the eyes of some disenfranchised fans or some in the business who has seen the change for the worst. It is somewhat obvious that more change is needed.

I don't usually endorse anyone in the music business, but I feel compelled to do so at this time during a time when change is needed (again, I'm not the only one who feels this way) in the Blues and Soul music business with the transitions of many Blues and Soul Legends recently. As they transition, there has to be  someone to follow in their musical footsteps.
I remember the void that was left in May of 2000 when Johnnie Taylor made his transition; some of the Artists emerged from his transition who were not in the forefront until then. It's just a musical cycle and besides, people are always looking for something new.

I feel fortunate enough to represent an Artist who is capable of helping to bring about a change with Blues and Soul music; now and in the future.
He is a young man who I can honestly and rightfully state; that is destined to follow in the footsteps of some of the Greats named previously; he is a Rising Star in the Blues and Soul music business and his name is Cool Ricky Blues.
He was formerly known as Ric-E-Bluez and it was while listening to his second CD entitled "Sexy Soul", that a particular song caught my immediate attention musically, and it was entitled Runnin' Your Mouth.

                    "Runnin' Your Mouth" - Ric-E-Bluez

I  became an instant fan of Ric-E-Bluez [now Cool Ricky Blues] and his music around 2008/2009, when I first heard his CD.
Prior to the "Sexy Soul" CD, I saw him perform at a Festival in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma around 2001/2002, but did not personally meet him at the time.
Although I loved his style of music, it would be a long time before our musical paths would cross again in November of 2014.
It was from that connection while listening to his third CD entitled "My Blues, My Soul", that a song entitled "Roll It" caught my attention.

I love EVERYTHING about "Roll It". It is the epitome of a 'perfect song'. If songs were picked on a tree, I would pick one like that everyday.
It had an instant 'magnetic' effect on me, and most people who hear it feel the same way; especially females.
"Roll It" was specifically designed with the ladies in mind and it was written for the Southern Soul market. "Roll It" was recently filmed at the Historic El Greco Club in Kilgore, Texas in February of this year and released on March 24th, 2015.
It is one of the few Official Southern Soul Videos on the market today.
It was an honor for me to participate and be a part of filming such a fantastic Video.      By the way, if you look closely, you just might catch those two cameo appearances of me. Don't blink, you just might miss me.

I am honored to have the pleasure of endorsing and presenting to you Cool Ricky Blues as one of the HOTTEST Rising Stars in the Blues and Soul business with his Southern Soul Video single entitled "Roll It".

He loved listening to Muddy Waters, Albert King, Sam Cooke, Jimmy Reed, Otis Redding, B.B. King and Johnnie Taylor. Growing up Ricky was quiet, easy going and very creative. In high school, he was known for playing football and his fashion edge. Not only did he love music but he also loved designing clothes. Even to this day, if he can’t figure out what to wear, he might just make something.
Cool Ricky Blues is on a mission to keep blues alive and singing it with a twist.
